I had an incredible experience at Blue Ribbon Dive Resort in June, and I can't thank Jonathan Venn enough for his warm hospitality and expertise. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. The "Intro to Tech" course was absolutely fantastic—well-structured, informative, and empowering. I'm grateful for the knowledge and confidence I gained through this program.
As for resort itself, it is very quiet. Perfect escape from big city. Staff is very welcoming and helpful. Good is good and portions are big. It has both western and local cuisine. Maybe you need to bring with you pocari if you drink it while diving.
A special shoutout to Jefferson Zapata and the other instructors for their professionalism, patience, and passion. Their guidance made every dive memorable and safe, and their enthusiasm truly enhanced the entire experience. The diving excursions were breathtaking, and I appreciated the personalized attention and care from the entire team.
Thanks again to everyone at Blue Ribbon Dive Resort for an unforgettable adventure. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for top-notch diving and outstanding service. I was diving for a week. Still a lot of sites I didn’t discover. I can't wait to return!
There is nothing near by so you have to eat at the hotel but the food was terrible. We didn't have a single good meal the 6 nights we were there. At best the food was edible although we also had a, still raw in the middle omelette, and pizza with barely melted rubbery cheese and raw tomato slices on top. The room was okay, sheets were clean but the bathroom was terrible, hardly any water coming out of the shower because of the limescale and knobs were coming off the wall.
Lots of mess and trash around the pool and on the little beach in front of the hotel. There is lots of staff but they are mostly busy on their phone, smoking or laying in the gazebo by the pool. I didn't mind them using the gazebo because the floor has a whole in it and feels like it can give way any time and the sofa had weird stains.
There are 3 small and yapping dogs that live at the hotel. They bark a lot mostly late evening and early morning. One of the dogs likes to pee against the furniture in the lobby next to the kitchen.
Staff was friendly enough when you need something but you have to approach them.
The diving centre isn't PADI certified any more. Which made sense after we did a dive with them and notices the same lack of attention to detail when it came to the diving equipment. We rented our set and had a leaking BCD and a broken valve on a regulator, that the staff hadn't noticed and were sending us out with on our dive. We also weren't provided with a depth indicator.
A very pet friendly cute diving spot.
Love the staff very helpful and the food is great for me. They’ve got good portions and I really enjoyed the flavors. They’ve got both international and local Filipino food available
Diving is pretty awesome as well. As we’ve stayed multiple of resorts around Mabini Batangas and they were willing to drive us to Mainit Corner and did our dives out there which are fantastic.
( we came first week of Sept rainy season )
Owner is very accommodating as well and friendly.
Prices are pretty straight forward.
And no hidden fees included on the room, food, and dives.
Only downside is the toilet shower wasn’t working well and the stairs going down to the resort was pretty stiff and not good for senior citizens.
Love the balcony and we even put on our hammick.
Definitely recommended. And we will get back again though.
I had a great time at Blue Ribbon. For diving you can expect 2 boat dives in the morning, 1 after lunch, and 1 night dive at 6 if there are 2 or more people interested (If just 1 then it’s a shore dive off their shore I believe).
The dive crew was great. The guides found lots of interesting things underwater. The boat crew took care of gear. They offered the enriched air course at a very reasonable price. Jeff was especially kind and a good guide.
The rooms are nothing to write home about but I think they are what can be expected for the price. The restaurant food was very good. Maybe a little expensive compared to other places in the Philippines but for the convenience of not having to leave for all the meals I was very impressed.
Blue Ribbon Dive Resort PADI instructor, Jeff, is professional, patient, and highly knowledgeable, making the classes enjoyable and safe beginner divers. Accommodations are comfortable, with easy access to the dive sites and a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. Overall, it’s the perfect destination for anyone looking to explore marine life while learning or refining their diving skills.
