Very nice place, I arrived late in the evening around 9pm but they still welcomed me and gave me an accommodation for the night. The caretakers are like family already. They were always asking if I’m ok, maybe because I was riding solo. hahaha. Thank you also to the owner for checking on me if I arrived already. The beach was very nice, went there on a weekday that’s why I was alone in the beach and it feels like I own it that day hahaha. I’ll definitely come back and bring friends!

I highly recommend Calatagan's Bahay Kubo! I visited yesterday, and as a regular guest, I keep coming back because I truly love this place. For those who are new or planning their first visit, this is a simple, nature-focused getaway, not a luxury resort. It offers an authentic beachside kubo experience with modern comforts. The accommodation is what you're paying for, and any issues with the beach itself are beyond the control of the kubo owners. The place is well-maintained, and while some guests have mentioned rust stains (kalawang), it’s understandable since metal naturally rusts when exposed to seawater. Despite this, the caretakers do their best to keep everything clean and functional. People shouldn't expect a grand, luxurious stay—this is a bahay kubo, a simple, native-style accommodation that has been upgraded for comfort. The owners have added fans, modern restrooms, and other amenities to make guests feel at ease while still enjoying the traditional vibe. It's a charming, traditional stay that lets guests experience the beach in a natural and relaxing setting. As for the distance to the beach, claims of a 15- to 20-minute walk are exaggerated (based on one guest's review). It's actually a short and manageable walk that adds to the adventure rather than being an inconvenience. I also found it quite funny that some reviews complain about the air conditioning not making the bahay kubo completely cold and the presence of mosquitoes. It should be expected—you're in the province and staying in a bahay kubo! This is all part of the experience, and if someone is looking for a fully air-conditioned, bug-free stay, then a traditional kubo might not be the right fit for them. Regarding the caretakers and service, my experience was very positive. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and always ready to assist with any concerns. They work hard to ensure a comfortable stay and respond promptly to any requests. While some reviews mention issues with internet and mobile signals, it’s important to remember that this is a beach getaway, not a city hotel. A slower internet connection is expected in remote beach locations, making it an ideal spot for a digital detox. Overall, this place is an amazing getaway. If you're expecting a five-star hotel experience, it may not be the right choice for you. However, if you're looking for a cozy, simple, and peaceful beach stay surrounded by nature, this is the perfect spot. I highly recommend it for those who truly appreciate the beauty of a traditional Filipino beachside retreat!

The location is hard to get to, especially if the ground is slippery and you're driving a sedan. The accommodation isn't great—it's small, and the air conditioning doesn't cool the room properly. This place seems more suited for solo travelers or couples, but not for families. In addition, from our experience, the nearby resort was still using videoke past 10pm. Also, the beach has a 130 fee per person, which was disappointing when we saw it. If you're looking for a more relaxing and convenient stay, I'd suggest finding another resort in Calatagan.

Great experience for the price. Veron was very accommodating, easy to talk to and set proper expectations. Bring aqua shoes for the walk to the beach.

I transferred to this place due to unforeseen circumstances, and they ensured my safety and well-being throughout. While waiting for my companion, they accompanied me, offering comforting conversation. We tried their home-cooked breakfast, lunch paluto and I must say, their grilled pork belly was super yum. What's more, they warmly welcomed our dog, Loki, allowing him to enjoy his first swim in their private beach area without any disturbances. We also took advantage of their boat-hopping service, with Loki joining us. Our experience here was unforgettable, and we look forward to returning with loved ones. Here are some highlights from our visit.
