MORNING STAR HOTEL

Pros: Location is perfect right in the middle of town and walkable to the beach in 2 minutes and restaurants nearby. Bed was comfortable. There were hot showers and A/C was cold. Free water from a dispenser in the hotel. The staff were really accommodating and would assist us with calling tuk tuks when we had to leave, offering suggestions on where to go, scheduling a shared van to El Nido, etc. The biggest pro was when there was a power outage (which is very common), the hotel had generators so we still had electricity while most of the town didn’t have power. This was really a nice surprise and definitely a big factor when choosing a hotel in Oort Barton. Cons: The rooms themselves were outdated and could use some renovations. The rooms facing the back of the property had roosters crowing literally all night. I would ask for a room facing the front of the hotel, you can still hear the roosters but it’s further away. A/c was a little loud in our first room but then we switched and it was quiet. The hotel is by the road so it is noisy from motorbikes. If you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. Shower was hot but not consistently.

The place was quiet. The receptionist was an absolute gem! She greeted us with a warm smile every time we passed by, was incredibly knowledgeable about the island, and always went out of her way to assist us. She proactively asked if we needed anything for our room, offered fresh towels on our third night, and made sure we had tuktuks booked whenever needed and transferto PPS . Truly an outstanding asset to the hotel! Kudos to you Joanne!

To be honest, this place is pretty expensive for what it is. Pros - good location Rooms clean on arrival Bed pretty comfortable Good sized hot shower Admin helpful with organising bus back to PP Free wifi (starlink) is super fast Cons - the rooster farm directly over the back fence is a lot!! The roosters start at 3.30am and don't stop. There must be 20 or more. Good earplugs are a must!! No room servicing, which is annoying because you will inevitably end up with a sandy gritty floor and bed. Have to ask for your 2 bottles of water every day Expensive room with no free breakfast Lots of stairs if you're on the top floor Rooms are very basic.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the beach and restaurants. They offer convenient boat rides for island hopping and can also arrange transportation to and from Puerto Princesa. The staff are warm, friendly, and very courteous, making your stay even more enjoyable.

I'd give them 5 stars for being attentive and being there for our little requests. The room is basic, the aircon works, the building seems well maintained but I think the bed needs some improvements (although for the price they asked, it's alright) Their wifi is also fast. I they have starlink
