We enjoyed our stay at the Suites at Mount Malarayat. The room and bathroom while dated were spotlessly clean. The setting is spectacular. The pool was huge and clean, how ever the changing rooms are really in need of a makeover, and around the hotel in general there are a number of areas that seem a bit neglected. Breakfast in the sandtrap cafe was lovely and service was very polite and friendly at all times.
If you're not a foreign golfer, then this place is not for you.
1. Restaurant - as soon as we arrived, they lead us to an unclean slightly hidden table. Note that there are a lot of unreserved tables in the restaurant. The staff moved the used plates on a tray while we are standing waiting for him to finish. We even insisted to change the disposable tabletops as he thinks it's not necessary even if it's already wet.
The food are ordinary but all expensive 400+/person. So starting our 2nd day, we eat outside.
2. Billiards - no one is manning the room. The staff told us that we need "prior reservation", so we reserved 4pm the next day. When we arrived exactly 4pm, foreigner walk-ins are already there playing. When we asked the staff when can we play as we had it reserved already, the staff told us to wait for an hour because they just started playing.
3. KTV - one staff told us it's not available while the other staff told us that we need to pay 1K per hour. But no one assisted us.
4. Indoor playroom - there is no indoor playroom. All toys / slides are outside and children cannot play during daytime due to the heat and sunlight. They can only play starting 5pm.
5. Room - when it rained outside, water comes inside the room. Note that all our windows are locked.
For a golfer, it's a great place but besides golf they have a great atmosphere, service, nice rooms, huge swimming pool, playground for all age children. And a huge pond that goes to the door of your room with thousands of fish. My kids loved feeding the fish.
Stayed here during the long weekend in August 2014. Our room was clean and well-kept. But I think the restaurant closes too early. But it will be nice to return.
Nice resort. Rooms needs upgrades. Nickel and dime everything. Pool is nice. American breakfast is about 10 dollars. 10 minutes away from shopping mall. Lipa has no taxis. Best yo stay in this resort if you have a car.
