The Funny Lion – El Nido

The Funny Lion is one of the nicest places you can stay in El Nido. It is beautifully designed, clean, and staffed with friendly professionals. The hotel is well situated in El Nido, a good distance from the noisy downtown bustle, yet well within short walking distance. The breakfast and restaurant is good, and there’s a great bakery for coffee and pastries right across the street. What elevates The Funny Lion above other places is the outstanding service. I want to specifically commend Val, Kim, and Cjay for going above and beyond, especially for assisting with organizing our transportation for all our friends across town to Nacpan. A special shout-out to Kim, who went out of her way to track down, retrieve, and personally deliver an item for a friend (who wasn’t even a guest!) who had left it behind in our transport. This level of care is a reflection of the hotel’s high standards. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting El Nido!

Excellent service from friendly and consistently attentive staff. Free shuttle and boat to Papaya Beach was thoroughly worth it - a beautiful place. A shout-out to Fred who brought us there - he went above and beyond in several ways. And, a big thank you to Funny Lion’s manager, Michael, who solved some problems we had with our booking with genuine empathy and a concern for our enjoyment of our stay. All round (with the exception of traffic noise in the lobby), this is a classy place. Highly recommended.

The best hotel in el nido! this is a 10/10 hotel, the staff are amazing and go above and beyond. Special shoutout to Val and Rachel, thank you for everything! the facilities are great, breakfast is delicious. we truly enjoyed the spa, the gym and the access to papaya beach (stunning, don’t miss it!) we will definitely be back when visiting el nido. i recommend to anyone visiting, the location is super close to the town. the free tote bag, bandana, bracelet and goodbye gift is super cute and thoughtful.

Personnal is extremely nice and careful with all your needs and request. Rooms are clean with nice design. It has a very good phonic isolation. You don't hear the street nor the sounds from parties in El nido The hotel and the rooms at the top have a fantastic view. Location is perfect to go out in El nido without needing a taxi. There also a nicely equipped gym for the rainy days.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Funny Lion. Every request was met immediately, and the staff were always so happy, attentive, and accommodating. Although I've stayed at more luxurious hotels, this one feels more special because of how amazing their customer service is. Ms. Val and CJay were amazing staff to speak with. They were the ones we've interacted with the most, so they did have a more lasting impression. Ms. Val was exceptionally amazing, I chatted with her a few times and learned more about El Nido's history and the culture it had before, and her experiences growing up in the town. I think the most unique thing about The Funny Lion is that they know all of their guests by their first names, and greet them whenever they see them. It adds an extra special touch that no other hotel has given. The hotel is also partnered with agencies for activities or rentals, which makes things that much more convenient. We booked our first tour through them with one of their partners, and it went swimmingly. Onto the rooms, I think my favourite would be how great the sound isolation is. In front of the hotel is a very busy main street, you can immediately hear the hustle and bustle of things while you're around the hotel, but the moment you step into your room and close your door, complete silence. I think that is most ideal, especially after a day filled with activities. The bed, pillows, blanket, sheets, etc. were very comfortable. I had wonderful sleep each night. They also provide an ample supply of towels, which is very important, especially if you're at the beach every day. We stayed here for one week, and it was amazing and comfortable. The staff definitely added onto the experience as well. Oh, and Papaya beach is very lovely. It's a nice private beach to just bathe in the sun, and soak in the water.
