We arrived late, around 8 pm, to check in. Our room included dinner, breakfast, and our private onsen. The dinner is limited to their rice meals. I ordered orange chicken, which unfortunately had no hint of orange but is grilled well. Our meal arrived within 20 minutes of ordering. Service is quite efficient. They opened our onsen for us so we can use it after our dinner. I have been communicating with them on my time of arrival, and I was hoping that they would turn on the AC already for our room. It is a particularly hot day today in Los Baños and the room was quite stuffy. I couldn't open the windows too to avoid insects from coming in. They didn't have to open the AC for me. It would have been great, though, if they did as it took quite a while before we can make the room cool. The next day, we got a morning call at 9 a.m., even without requesting one to remind us of breakfast. The breakfast was a buffet of adobo, rice, and pansit bihon. I would have liked the pandesal, but it was cold and hard already. It might have been better if it was heated or if they have a microwave available. There is juice and water available. The coffee and creamer are instant and in sachets. This hotel does not seem to practice any sustainability measures when it comes to its plastic waste. It was interesting to be in an onsen. This summer season might not be the best time to do it, though. There is parking available for customers. You can settle your bill via cash and gcash. There is a P500 refundable deposit they require for the rooms. The staff are very helpful and nice.

I was able to reserve a room through their facebook page a day before which is great since I didn’t need to call them to make a reservation. They are active online! The staff were all very accommodating when we arrived there and politely assisted us. The Superior Room was very spacious and has it’s own onsen inside where we enjoyed some private time soaking in all the hot water and minerals. You don’t really need to bring toiletries too since they are already provided, including slippers and towels. The room also has a cabinet to hang your clothes and has it’s own blower for your hair. The public pool and onsen were nice. You can also ask the front desk for yukatas you can wear throughout your stay for free! The food was all very delicious especially for the price so for us, very sulit siya! Overall, we were able to relax during our day tour!

Their onsen is not hot. It is not even warm. It’s only lukewarm. So I think if you are looking for an onsen, you are wasting your money here. The food is also not good. Despite this, the interior of their place is well designed and the atmosphere when you walk around their premises is really nice. Onsen: 2/5 - The esthetic design of the onsen (we used a private room with its own onsen) is good but the water is barely warm. Rooms: 3/5 - Design can be improved. Room amenities are good. Nice shower, and the bathroom is clean. Shampoo and soap smell really nice. For the quality we think the room is a little expensive (room for 4 at about 30 sqm, with private onsen for P6.5k). Beds: 4.5/5 - Very clean and comfy. Blankets could be thicker. Food: 2.5/5 - Food is okay. Custom drinks such as white mocha chocolate is very sweet, and undrinkable. Customer Service 2/5 - Their customer service personel are very nice. But when we called they said that the pool was under renovation so we had to rent a room. So we did. When we got there the pool was in working order. So we think they just said this so that we had to rent a room. Customer service is 4/5 but for their dishonesty I will have to put it at 2/5. Our overall rating is 2.5/5 stars.

Went here for an overnight staycation with my family. The facilities looked dated but clean and well maintained, which I liked a lot. Loved the covered parking, which is a godsend in this climate. The staff were easy to talk to and were so accommodating. The outdoor pool area receives quite the afternoon glare, but there's not much else that can be done short of covering it all up entirely, and there are spots in the deeper end where one can hide from it. The poolside where people can drink and dine tend to have puddles here and there, likely from splashes from the pool, but they're not a big bother in general. We got a family room with its own private onsen, and it was so nice and relaxing, I used it as much as I possibly could. The room itself was spacious, with two single beds, a double, and even a sala set with a two-seater, two single seats, and an adequately sized coffee table. There was an electric kettle, a mini fridge, a blowdryer, and four mugs for the complimentary coffee should you feel like making yourself a cup. There were complimentary toiletries in the toilet and bath, and even a clothes bin. The ac seemed well maintained our entire stay, and all the button functions in its remote control worked properly. We didn't try to use the TV. The entire room and all the provided sheets, towels, robes, and mats were all clean, and there were no signs of pests being there with us, even inside the toilet and bath. I loved that best, especially because this place is an onsen hotel, and being able to relax completely while you soak in their bath is, I think, a very important point for such a business. The room service is done through a wall phone type intercom, and we didn't encounter any problems using it. The waiting time for the staff to arrive with your order is reasonable and tolerable. All the food and drinks we ordered tasted good, and our kids enjoyed their meals. I would suggest a bigger pitcher of water when requested, though, especially in this heat. The only thing we didn't like here was the vehicular noise that went on even late in the night. Because Makiling Onsen Hotel is located right beside the highway, there's no escaping those jarring noises, especially those by motorbikes and jeepneys. It was hard to relax while soaking since the bath had windows that looked out directly onto the highway. But all in all, we had a nice stay in Makiling Onsen Hotel and would love to go back.
