The Funny Lion – El Nido

very nice hotel with super friendly staff and good location close to the main restaurant and nightlife area. breakfast is great and has plenty of options, food in the restaurant as well. front desk was very helpful organizing trips and renting scooters. gym is spacious and has everything you need for your workout. best part is the private beach (papaya beach) which is easily accessible via short (10 minutes) van and boat ride. only downside is that the room has very limited storage space. so you basically live out of your suitcase. overwise strongly recommend.

As part of a group tour of the Philippines I had a wonderful few days at the Funny Lion hotel. My favourite hotel and place to go of the whole trip. I loved the modern style and layout with the pool at the centre and all the little touches in the room. Located within easy access of shops, bars and places to eat etc. The highlight was a trip to Papaya beach, stunning views, peaceful and chilled. I could have stayed for days. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us but even in the rain the hotel was a relaxed place to hang out and have a few cocktails in happy hour! We grabbed some treats at the bakery across the road, better than Gail's in the UK ! The staff were all brilliant, Val and Rachel remembered all our names, 14 in the group. Food was probably the best I experienced in the Philippines and a few of us attended the Friday night buffet which was extensive and delicious. We enjoyed the entertainment that night and had the opportunity to get up and dance. I also had a superb massage at the hotel spa. Totally recommend this hotel.

Carl's Archery experience was fun and enjoyable.

Amazing experience. They have the best hospitality we have ever encountered. From the front of the house: guard, front desk, restaurant and housekeeping! They have an amazing staff. I would recommend staying here not only for the staff but the rooms and amenities. It is close to town where you can shop, eat, play, island tour and enjoy the local flavor of the town.

The best hotel in el nido! this is a 10/10 hotel, the staff are amazing and go above and beyond. Special shoutout to Val and Rachel, thank you for everything! the facilities are great, breakfast is delicious. we truly enjoyed the spa, the gym and the access to papaya beach (stunning, don’t miss it!) we will definitely be back when visiting el nido. i recommend to anyone visiting, the location is super close to the town. the free tote bag, bandana, bracelet and goodbye gift is super cute and thoughtful.
