Russell Place

We had an amazing time here! Loved it so much we ended up extending our stay in Port Barton from three nights to six. The staff here are lovely and very accommodating. We rented a scooter for 500 p from the hostel and Jen provided many suggestions for sightseeing. They also offer laundry services for 100 p per kilo. Jen was very friendly and we made lots of memories interacting and playing with the family. We specifically fell in love with Poppy, the beautiful hostel dog. Russell Place offers a good and affordable breakfast, with multiple other food options within a three minute walk. The beach is about a 10 minute walk away, and everything in the town is easily accessible at this location. The room is clean and spacious. We loved it and would 100% stay here again!

Very clean rooms and shared spaces, as well as welcoming staff. They helped us to with our scooter rental and booking our shuttle transportation. We had a private hut with air conditioning which worked very well!

I chose to leave early and book in elsewhere. I had a single room, but ad there are holes in the walls, lizards kept coming into the hut at night which I personally really don't like. I had about 3 come in in one night and got about an hours sleep as I was on pins!! (Someone else might feel OK sharing a room with 3 lizards but not for me!). The staff said they have holes in the huts and allow lizards to come into the rooms to eat mosquitos but personally I didn't wish to share a bed with 3 geckos. Otherwise, it was OK and people friendly. Fan was OK at night when it was cooler. AC would have been better though.

The owners of this place are so lovely and are reason alone to stay here . The rooms are a reasonable size with a large comfy bed and powerful fan , we didn't even need to use the fan at night as temps were cool . The shower nearest the sink is hot , contrary to other reviews , and the shower and toilets are always clean . There are small lockers available for valuable items ,we just left ours in our room as the area feels very safe . Nice quiet location not far from the amazing beach ! Port Barton is an amazing place to stay and this guest house was the perfect place to stay .

Russell's place, is one of the places I would recommend to anyone planning an extended stay in Port Barton. The showers and toilets are excellent, showers are mostly cold but that doesn't matter with the temperatures. The beds are also incredibly comfortable and large. Unfortunately, there are no lockers but they are not necessary, the bed offers enough storage space. At the entrance there are also lockers for his valuables. Otherwise, the staff is incredibly nice and friendly. Helpful to boot. Had rented a scooter, had a breakdown and it was immediately provided us a new scooter ! That's what you call service! Opposite there is a very nice cafe with good coffee and breakfast. Otherwise, the place is a bit out of the way, which gives the whole but also quiet and you get a little more of the typical life of the locals.
