a month agoWe had such a great experience staying at Malaya Beach Resort. The location is perfect as it was just a short walk to the beach, which made it super convenient for us to enjoy the view whenever we wanted. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, perfectly matching the pricing. Upon arrival, the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They helped us with parking right away and took the time to explain everything we needed to know before check-in, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. The ambience throughout the resort was lovely, it was calm, relaxing, and well-kept. A special shout-out to the receptionist, who was exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our stay, their warm hospitality really made a difference. Overall, Malaya Beach Resort offers wonderful service, a perfect location, and great value for money. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing getaway in Liwliwa, Zambales.

2 months agoMalaya Beach Resort has great amenities and beautiful aesthetics. I also appreciated that they have their own restaurant, and the staff were very accommodating and friendly throughout our stay. The only downside was the cleanliness of the room; it was a bit dusty, which triggered some allergies. Cleanliness is very important to make you feel at home, so I hope this can be improved. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience overall.

3 months ago2nd Edit: The owner asked for a meeting to hear about what happened and was kind enough to give us a refund. Apparently, it was a mismanagement by the PIC onsite (now fired). EDIT: Attached photos of the pet fee and the supposed discounted rate as proof that the cost we paid, PhP22k for 6 pax, 2 pets, 2 nights, is unfair. Read more below. NOT A RESORT, JUST A ROOM WITH BEDS, SHOWER, AND AIR-CONDITIONING. If you're booking Malaya Beach Resort for its amenities, PLEASE DON'T! Our family trip from June 27-29 was a cascade of disappointments, starting with the main attraction: the pool. It was closed for construction, a fact the resort failed to communicate to us before our arrival on when will it be finished. When we raised this, the management's handling of the situation was sickening. They offered a discount then immediately took it back, falsely claiming a pre-arranged pet fee reduction was our compensation. The lack of integrity was shocking. We had to solve our own problem by suggesting they arrange pool access at another resort – a solution that should have been their initiative. The "resort" experience was further diminished by the extra extra extra expenses. Expect to pay extra for everything: a "shortcut" road, another gate fee, and nightly parking because they don't have their own. These costs were not disclosed upfront. Add to this the constant, thumping noise from the resort next door, and any hope of a peaceful retreat was gone. On the positive side, the rooms were comfortable, the AC was strong, and the rank-and-file staff were helpful, unlike the absent manager. But good nachos and soft beds don't make up for a core failure in hospitality and honesty. Overall, our stay was a STRESSFUL and "TRAUMATIZING" ordeal. We strongly advise you to look elsewhere. Resorts in the main Liwa area or San Narciso are likely to offer a more relaxing and enjoyable experience. Note: The fact that I don't have photos proves that It wasn't even camera-worthy. 🤮

5 months agoWe recently stayed here and wanted to leave a fair and honest review based on our experience. Positives first: The weekend music was enjoyable and added a nice atmosphere, though a neighboring resort guest was distractingly loud. Nachos were delicious, though we opted to dine elsewhere for most meals. We appreciated the pet fee discount, and the staff were generally accommodating throughout our stay. Our room was clean and the air-conditioning worked well—though it did have a minor leak. Areas for improvement: There was no bathroom tissue provided until we specifically requested it. The pool was under construction, which we were informed about two weeks before our stay. Still, we felt the resort could have been more proactive—we had to request access to a nearby resort's pool instead of it being arranged in advance. The resort advertised amenities that were unavailable during our visit. Despite prior posts saying others were compensated in similar cases, we initially weren’t offered any discount, which felt inconsistent and disappointing. Billing also caused some confusion. Staff brought out a calculator to justify additional charges, despite no changes made on our end. There seemed to be a lack of strong managerial presence. Guests were offering solutions instead of receiving them, and overall communication around service recovery was lacking. We also noticed staff members posting their own 5-star reviews, which felt disingenuous and made it harder for honest guest feedback to be visible. However, after our stay, the owner personally reached out to us, acknowledged the issues, and provided compensation as a gesture of goodwill. That effort, along with the sincere communication, was appreciated and does speak to a willingness to improve. This resort has real potential. With stronger management oversight and better guest experience planning, it can truly stand out. We’re updating our original 2-star rating to 4 stars to reflect the owner’s response and commitment to doing better. We hope this helps others make informed choices and encourages the resort to continue moving in the right direction.
