Cilex Hotel and Dive

I really liked this place. The staff were really nice, and very friendly. Room for improvement on the bathroom front, ours was pretty mouldy, and the sink wasn’t attached to the wall.. which led to the pipe to the U-bend popping out and spilling its gungy contents all over the floor. Lights in the room flickering on and off.. some faulty wiring? Room a bit unloved generally and felt pretty sparse. But! It was clean and the sea view balcony was really amazing - and made up for the room being in need of some TLC.

This review mirrors most of the 2-star reviews here on Google. I booked the hotel because recent reviews were good, but the low-rating reviews are more accurate. What we appreciated: Location is wonderful. The ocean view rooms sit up high with a sweeping view of the bay. The hotel is right on the beach, and there is coral so you can snorkel off the beach. They have dive/snorkel gear available. The local staff is wonderful, and does their best. What we didn't like: Our experience matches the 2-star reviews here on Google. Our room was never cleaned in the 5 days we were there, there's no mini fridge or tea kettle in the room. The bed is soft, and the bathroom had a terrible sewage smell. The beach towels are cheap, synthetic fabric that push the water around, they don't absorb at all. The bay has a lot of trash in it. There are no smoking signs in the inside dining area, yet the owner smokes inside with friends. The boatyard next door is VERY noisy. The vibe is chaotic and noisy - people playing their own music on their mobiles, or watching movies with the sound up by the pool. Note: if you have mobility issues, I counted 87 steps from our room to the reception area, and another 28 steps down to the beach. This is not a place for people who would struggle with lots of stairs.

For it to be a mid hotel is already a steal. Nice place and good location, near snorkeling area. Nice view too! note that there are many stairs to the lobby

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The place is so peaceful, and we felt completely relaxed. The staff were also very friendly and attentive.

Had a 2 night stay at the resort and was pleasantly surprised by the received attention and service. Must be noted that this is a small no trill resort, so can't expect accommodation similar to know 5 star hotels. What you pay is what you get. Our appreciation go's to the front desk, to restaurant, to dive team staffs. Negative part, the TV in the room should be checked for proper operation, bathroom faucets should be checked for proper water flow. If older or not very mobile, do not go due to the steep steps between rooms and other areas.
