a week agoWe had 2 nights at the Bambua, it is in an amazing location with views of the mountains. The rooms are large & very interesting, in a good way. The open air bathroom was great!! Negatives are the air con was noisy & not big enough for the large room, resulting in poor sleep from being too hot & too noisy. The whole place needs something, it’s tired, such a pity because it could be amazing on every level. Some staff barely spoke to you, and wouldn’t even smile, it seemed like a hassle to get you hot water for coffee, I would happily have gotten it myself but hot water was not accessible to guests. No drinking water was available.

4 months agoWe enjoyed our stay at Bambua Cottage!** The mountain views were breathtaking, and the location was perfect—just a 15-minute walk to town and 10 minutes to the beach. The peaceful walks were so serene. Our room was spacious, as was the bathroom, and it even had air conditioning. Andre was such a kind and engaging host, full of wonderful stories. Thank you for offering an affordable yet tranquil retreat. Sabang Beach was absolutely stunning! While there’s no Wi-Fi, mobile data works just fine. *Note:* This is a forest retreat, not a hotel, so be sure to set your expectations accordingly. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would love to return. Wishing Andre more happy guests in the future!

4 months agoThe room was impressively spacious. However, I noticed that the windows and door openings didn’t have any security grills, which made us feel a bit uneasy, especially at night. It’s a great space overall, but adding some safety features would definitely improve the experience.

5 months agoThis is okay for like one night.. Don't get me wrong. The view is beautiful. The restaurant not really a restaurant. There's no menu. They just cook what they got in their kitchen... There's also the potential of monkeys stealing your things. If you leave them out on the balcony and feral cats can just come into your room whenever they please. Your balcony is open. There is a curtain but it doesn't really stop any bugs or animals from coming in..

9 months agoI'll start by saying that this is a nice place! But don't come with the wrong expectations! This is NOT a hotel, this is a place immersed in nature with rooms and bungalows with an authentic feel but also with not a lot of comfort. This is more of a camping experience. The rooms are sometimes small and with only a fan and no AC which might be a bit challenging with the very humid weather. The staff is really nice and they do everything to accommodate, including cooking and organising activities in the surroundings. So definitely come if you like nature and are not afraid to brush your teeth in a sink without plumbing!
