Alvea Hotel and Residences

We stayed at Alvea Hotel in Baguio City from June 18 to 21 in a Premier Family Room. The hotel has a cozy ambiance, and we appreciated the soft beds and the veranda — perfect for relaxing in Baguio’s cool climate. The staff were courteous and accommodating throughout our stay. However, there were several things that affected our overall experience. The water heater didn’t work on both our first and last day, which was uncomfortable given the weather. Room cleanliness was also disappointing — we noticed stains in the sink and the sheets weren’t changed regularly. When we asked about it, they said it was part of an effort to be environmentally friendly. While we understand the intention, cleanliness and guest comfort should still be a priority. Another issue was the near-charge of over ₱7,000 for a stain on the pillowcase and duvet cover. Thankfully, it was later confirmed to be removable, and we weren’t charged, but the situation caused unnecessary stress. The complimentary breakfast was decent, but the coffee and juice were of poor quality, and surprisingly, hot chocolate wasn’t available. Also, breakfast for toddlers isn’t free — we assumed it was because they didn’t charge us upfront, but it turned out not to be the case. We also tried their café/restaurant — the food was delicious but surprisingly expensive. While the hotel is newly built (which helps with overall cleanliness in some areas), we feel that there are better options in Baguio at similar price points. Alvea has potential, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

Just reviewing the restaurant they have on site. Fantastic view. Bar with cocktails, beer, wine as well as non-alcoholic beverages. Good menu selection of both Western and Filipino favorites. Service is very attentive.

By far the best hotel in Baguio! It's pet-friendly, which is a huge plus. The rooms are clean, and the staff are accommodating. Truly the perfect place for a staycation in Baguio with your loved ones—and your pets too!

Our stay at Alvea Hotel was truly extraordinary! The staff were friendly and helpful, making our check-in and entire stay, calm and relaxing. The room was clean, spacious and has a great scenic view of mountain, also we enjoyed our breakfast meal at the café they had a wide selection of food. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Baguio City.

Pros: 1. Pets allowed - there’s a daily fee for bringing pets, no added value like a dog bed/bowl so maybe the fee is just for cleaning. 2. The rooms - modern looking and clean. Enough storage for your belongings but no closed cabinet for clothing if you like to unpack. The bathroom was clean, with water pressure and heater working great. Not a lot of bathroom counter space. 3. Early check in and late check out - for an hourly fee we were able to check in 5 hours early and was able to check out 3 hours later. Cons 1. Free breakfast - not a buffet, service needs to be improved. Breakfast menu only had 6 dishes, and only came with complimentary coffee. Not very kid friendly. Staff also needs training, beyond giving us the breakfast menu the staff did not explain what was included and did not seem to know the menu. We were told that all drinks from their ala carte menu were included in the free breakfast but were later on charged. 2. The room - the hotel is on a busy street and if you get a forest facing room, traffic can get really loud during midday. Overall good value, and will strongly consider again for our next trip with our dog.
